Hi, I’m Josh, aka LobsterSquirrel

I’m a self-taught artist and storyteller working across iPads, Cintiqs, and anything I can scribble on. My style grew from years of experimentation, mistakes, and curiosity.

I’ve explored many corners of art - comics, book covers, and character design - but eventually found my focus in animation, where movement and storytelling fully came together. For the past decade, I’ve worked as a storyboard artist and director on projects like The Avengers, Blood of Zeus, The Mighty Nein, and Blue Eye Samurai.

My work centers on simplifying complexity - breaking action, anatomy, and dynamic poses into clear, approachable shapes. I value exaggeration, clarity, and movement, always with the goal of making drawing feel fun rather than intimidating.

Storytelling sits at the heart of everything I do, whether it’s a single illustration or a full sequence of boards.
